Uttpam is very famous south indian meal option.
Traditionally uttpam is made up of fermented batter of rice & dal, Which takes a pre preparation of at least 24 hours. In this fast pace life we might not get this much time for pre preparation. So here in this video I am showing you an instant recipe of rava/ suji uttpam. Which can be helpful in adding a variety of healthy breakfast in your busy mornings.
What is Suji ?
Suji/ Rava/ Semolina is made up of a hard variety of wheat which is known as durum wheat. The same is being used to make macaroni , pasta etc.Suji Nutrition
Nutritional value of suji is almost similar to wheat.
100 gm suji provides us approximately 360 kcal & 13 gm of protein. But net carbs content of suji is quiet high that is why its glycemic index is also high
Is it good for weight loss diet?
Due to high net content of carbs and high glycemic index we must use suji/ semolina in moderation weight loss and diabetic diet.
Always load the suji dish with vegetables and some protein option like besan, pulses or curd etc to lower down the carbohydrate content and glycemic index
Suji is very light in digestion that's why it is recommended to children and sick people.
Firstly, in a large bowl take rava, curd and water. mix well
Add curry leaves, coriander leaves, grated carrot, green chili, ginger, salt to it.
Rest for 20 minutes or until the rava absorbs well.
Add little more water to adjust the consistency
Now pour 1 laddle batter on greased tawa and spread the batter in round.
Top the uttapam with vegetables and press gently.
Pour 1 tsp oil around and over the uttapam.
Cover and cook for a minute or until the base is cooked well.
Flip over and cook both sides.
Serve with onion tomato chutney.
